Use Save and Go in your clinical workflow

Save and Go lets you save a record and move straight to your next task without returning to the menu.

Written by Connor Baeza

Save and Go lets you save a record and move straight to your next screen in one action. Follow the steps below to use it in your day-to-day workflow.

Save a record and navigate to your next screen

You can use Save and Go on any Rio screen where it has been enabled by your organisation.

  1. Complete your record entry as normal. For example, finish writing a progress note or recording an appointment outcome.

  2. Hover your cursor over the arrow on the right hand side of the Save button.
The Save and Go drop down menu appears, showing the next step options available to your role.

  3. Rio saves your record and takes you directly to the selected screen for the same patient.

🤓Tip: If you want to save without navigating away, click the Save button directly, the drop down only appears when you hover over the arrow on the right hand side of the button.

Common Save and Go journeys

The options available to you depend on your role and which screen you are on. Below are the most common journeys you may see.

After recording an appointment outcome

  • Select Save and Go to Progress Notes to add a progress note for the same patient straight away.

  • Save and Go to Care Plan, review or update the patient's care plan.

  • Save and Go to an assessment form, open a specific assessment for the patient.

After saving a progress note

  • Save and Go to Care Plan, update care plan actions or interventions.

  • Save and Go to Clinical Portal, return to the patient's full record overview.

  • Save and Go to Risk Assessment, open the patient's risk assessment form.

After saving a referral

  • Save and Go to Book Appointment, open the appointment booking screen for the patient.

  • Save and Go to Referral List, view the referral list or allocation screen for your team.

📌Note: The options you see in the drop down are specific to your role. You may see different options from colleagues in other teams, this is expected and by design.

If Save and Go is not appearing

If you do not see the drop down arrow on the Save button, one of the following may apply:

  • Save and Go has not been configured for that screen at your organisation.

  • Your role has not been granted access to any Save and Go options on that screen.

  • Save and Go has not yet been enabled globally by your system administrator.

If you believe Save and Go should be available on a screen you use regularly, contact your system administrator or Rio support team.
