Configure Save and Go

Set up Save and Go navigation options, assign page links, and configure role access

Written by Connor Baeza

Save and Go allows you to configure advanced navigation options for the Save button on supported screens in Rio. When enabled, the Save button expands to show a drop down menu that lets users save their work and navigate directly to another Rio screen, reducing the number of steps needed to complete common workflows.

📌Note: Save and Go is not available on all Rio pages. Only pages listed as Available Pages on the Save and Go Configuration screen support this feature.

Setting up a Save and Go option involves four steps:

  1. Add a page link.

  2. Assign the link to a page.

  3. Enable the page.

  4. Configure role access.

Add a page link

First step is to add a page link:

  1. Go to System Administration, then click Save and Go Configuration.

  2. Click the Add Page Links hyperlink.

  3. The Page Link Name and Page to Link to fields are pre-populated with example text. Select and delete this before entering your information.

  4. Enter a Page Link Name. This is the description that appears to the end user in the Save and Go drop down menu. Make it action oriented and clear, for example: "Save and Go to Care Plan" or "Save and Go to Progress Notes".

  5. Enter the URL of the target page in the Page to Link to field. For client specific pages, include the client context parameter: ClientID=$clientid$

  6. Click Save. The page link is now available to be assigned to pages.

⚠️Important: The client context parameter format for Save and Go (ClientID=$clientid$) is different from the menu configuration format. Always use this exact format for Save and Go page links.

Assign and enable links on pages

Once a page link is added, assign and enable links on the pages:

  1. Click the Edit Pages hyperlink on the Save and Go Configuration screen.

  2. Select the Enable Save and Go checkbox in the top corner of the table to enable Save and Go globally.

  3. Find the page you want to configure. For example, Appointment Outcome, Progress Notes, or Referral.

  4. Click the dropdown for that page and select the page links you want to make available. A Check All option is available to select all links.

  5. Make sure the Enabled checkbox is selected for the page you are editing.

  6. Click Save.

⚠️Important: Deleting a page link is permanent. No warning is given and the link cannot be re-enabled without recreating it from scratch. Always verify you are deleting the correct link before clicking Delete.

Configure role access

After you complete assigning and enabling links on the pages, configure the role access:

  1. Click the Configure User Access Roles hyperlink on the Save and Go Configuration screen.

  2. Find the page you want to configure role access for.

  3. Move all roles that require access to a link from the Available Roles box to the Selected Roles box using the Add or Remove arrow buttons.

  4. Repeat for each page link and each page as required.

  5. Click Save.

📌Note: Different user roles can be given access to different Save and Go options. For example, clinical staff may see "Save and Go to Care Plan" while administrative staff only see "Save and Go to Appointment List".
