Save and Go is a feature in Rio that lets you navigate directly to your next screen the moment you save a record without having to go back through menus or search for your patient again.
When Save and Go is enabled on a screen, the standard Save button gains a small drop down arrow. Hovering over the arrow reveals a menu of next step options relevant to your role. Selecting one saves your current record and takes you straight to the destination all in a single action.
How it works
Without Save and Go, finishing a record typically returns you to a list view, from where you need to navigate back through the clinical portal or menus to reach your next task. Save and Go removes those extra steps.
Here is an example of the difference for a progress note:
Without Save and Go
Save progress note.
Return to progress note list.
Go to the Clinical Portal.
Click Care Plans.
Arrive at care plan 3 to 5 extra clicks.
With Save and Go
Hover over the Save button arrow.
Select Save and Go to Care Plan.
Arrive at care plan done.
Your options may differ from your colleagues'
Your system administrator configures Save and Go and tailors it to each team's workflow. This means the next step options you see in the drop down may be different from those seen by colleagues in other teams: community nurses, ward staff, and admin teams each see the options most relevant to their role.
đNote: Save and Go is not available on every screen in Rio. It is only active on screens where your organisation has configured it. If you do not see the drop down arrow on the Save button, Save and Go has not been set up for that screen.
Which workflows benefit most
Save and Go is most useful in workflows where you consistently move from one screen to another after saving. Common examples include:
Recording an appointment outcome, then writing a progress note.
Saving a progress note, then updating the care plan.
Saving a new referral, then booking an appointment.
Saving a progress note, then returning to the Clinical Portal.
These are the journeys where Save and Go saves the most time across a typical working day.
What Save and Go does not do
Save and Go changes where you go after saving. It does not change how you save. Your record is saved in exactly the same way as before; Save and Go simply adds the option to navigate somewhere useful at the same time.
