Error 'WriteRecord:FireWorkflowEvents@40: Invalid use of Null' when saving an assessment Form

When saving an assessment form for a client, you may encounter the following error: WriteRecord:FireWorkflowEvents@40: Invalid use of Null

Written by Connor Baeza

This error typically occurs when:

  • The form was originally part of a date bound document set, but has since been moved to a nondate bound document set.

  • At some point, the form changed document sets, and the date binding settings differ between the original and current sets.

Additionally, another scenario has been reported where this error appears if the form is opened via a link from a different form.

Resolution

  • This issue has been corrected in RIO version 22.08.00.

  • The secondary scenario, error when opening via a link will be fixed in RIO version 23.08.00.

Workaround:

  • Ensure the form is moved to a folder/document set with the same date binding configuration as the original document set.

Options when creating a document set

When creating a new document set, you can select:

  • Requires Client

  • Use date binding

After creating the document set:

  1. Add the folder to the document set.

  2. Add the form to the folder.
