When registering or synchronising a patient record from Spine into RiO, the process may fail if certain demographic fields contain invalid or incorrect data.
Resolution steps
1. Check address fields from Spine (NCRS Data)
When the synchronisation fails, review all address lines from the patient’s national record (NCRS).
Confirm that no individual address line exceeds 35 characters.
RIO cannot process address lines longer than this limit.
2. If an address line exceeds 35 characters
If any line is longer than 35 characters, the data must be corrected centrally.
Contact the NHS Digital Back Office: [email protected].
Request that the address is updated so all lines are within the 35‑character limit.
3. Check for other invalid demographic data
This issue can also occur due to other incorrect fields, such as:
Phone numbers containing symbols or invalid characters
Any demographic field holding non‑standard or unexpected data
Correcting these errors on the national record will allow RIO to successfully synchronise the patient record.
