Troubleshoot national dataset reporting issues

Common problems with MHSDS, CDS, and CSDS reporting in Rio, their likely causes, and how to resolve them.

Written by Connor Baeza

If you are experiencing issues with national dataset submissions from Rio, use this guide to identify the likely cause and the steps to resolve it.

MHSDS issues

MHSDS Read Only Fields not populating on CPA Review

Likely cause: System constants are not configured to refer to the correct form fields, or the AssessmentReadOnlyFields master table is not correctly configured.

Resolution: Check system constants per the Rio System Administration System Constants Guide. Verify that AssessmentReadOnlyFields entries point to the correct form and field names.

Staff Professional Group missing from MHSDS submission

Likely cause: Staff Professional Group is not set on the HCP Registration record.

Resolution: Access HCP Registration from the Admin menu, navigate to the Mental Health Tab, and set the Staff Professional Group for all clinical HCPs.

HoNOS score not appearing on CPA Review

Likely cause: The HoNOS form is not linked to the CPA Review via Read-Only Fields, or the system constant is not pointing to the correct form.

Resolution: Verify the AssessmentReadOnlyFields entry for HoNOS. Check system constants per the System Constants Guide. Ensure the HoNOS form has been completed for the patient before the CPA Review is accessed.

CDS issues

CDS report giving incorrect AttendedOrDidNotAttend codes

Likely cause: The CDSXML5_BT system constant is set to the wrong value, or appointment outcome national codes are not correctly configured.

Resolution: Check the CDSXML5_BT value per the System Constants Guide. Verify that AmsOutcome national codes match the expected CDS code set.

Commissioning Serial Number missing from CDS submission

Likely cause: The contract or SLA has not been entered in the CDS Contracts/SLA Configuration screen.

Resolution: Access the CDS Contract/SLA Configuration screen and enter all active contracts and SLAs.

All datasets

Mandatory fields not enforced on assessment form

Likely cause: The form is Style 1, 3, or 5 (no Content Validation), or Content Validation is not enabled on a Style 4/6 form.

Resolution: Change the form to Style 4 or 6 and enable Content Validation. Mandatory fields are only enforced on forms with Content Validation.

Free text in nationally coded fields causing reporting failures

Likely cause: Form fields are configured as free text instead of pick lists.

Resolution: Replace free text fields with pick list fields mapped to the correct master tables. Migrate existing free text data to coded values where possible.

📌Note: For system constant configuration issues, always refer to the separate Rio System Administration System Constants Guide. Do not change system constants without consulting this guide first.
