You can discharge a patient directly from the Bed Layout View. Once saved, the bed status updates to Vacant and the discharge is recorded in the patient's IMS event record.
⚠️Important: If discharge summaries are configured to auto generate on discharge, the summary will be created when you save. Reversing the discharge will logically delete the discharge summary. It must be recreated from scratch if the discharge is reversed in error.
Discharge a patient
Access the Bed Layout View and click the bed of the patient to be discharged.
Select Discharge, then click Discharge Patient. The Inpatient Discharge screen is displayed, showing brief details of the current admission.
Enter the Discharge Date Time. The date and time of discharge.
Select the Method from the drop down list, how the patient was discharged (e.g. Clinical Decision, Self-Discharge, Death).
Select the Destination from the drop down list, where the patient is going after discharge (e.g. Home, Nursing Home, Another Hospital).
To record a Destination Address: enter search criteria (postcode, house name or number, street name) in the Destination Address field and select the correct address from the results.
Complete any additional discharge fields required by your local configuration.
Click Save.
The patient is discharged. The bed image changes to Vacant and the discharge is recorded in the patient's IMS event record.
📌Note: Whether the Method and Destination fields are mandatory depends on your local system configuration. Contact your System Administrator if these fields are not appearing as expected.
