The Bed Layout View is your main screen for managing inpatients in Rio. Each bed on the ward is displayed with a colour coded image that tells you the current status of that bed and patient at a glance.
šNote: You must have ward access and the correct RBAC role assigned to view and manage patients on a ward. Contact your System Administrator if you cannot see a ward.
Bed status indicators
Each bed in the Bed Layout View displays one of the following statuses:

ā¬ Vacant | The bed is empty and available for admission. | Admit |
š“ Occupied | A patient is currently admitted and present on the ward. | Case Record, Admission Record, Discharge, Transfer, Leave, Sleepover (+ Observation Charts if eObs is active) |

Access the Bed Layout View
You can open the Bed Layout View for any ward you have access to.
Select Ward View from the Inpatient Management menu.
Select the ward you want to view from the Ward drop down list.
Click Bed.
The Bed View screen is displayed, showing all beds in the ward with their current status.
Additional bed information
Two patients on one bed
It is possible for two patients to be associated with the same bed at the same time. For example, when one patient is on leave or on a sleepover. When this happens, details for both patients are displayed to the right of the bed in the Bed Layout View.
Virtual beds
Virtual (flex) beds are temporary beds added to a ward to increase capacity on a short term basis. They are clearly marked with the word (Virtual) following the bed number in the Bed Layout View.
