You can admit a patient to a ward directly from the Bed Layout View. Before you begin, make sure all required admission master tables have been configured and that you have access to the relevant ward.
⚠️Important: Seven fields are mandatory on the Admission screen and must be completed before you can save: Admission Date, Admission Source, Admission Method, Client Classification, Legal Status on Admission, Psychiatric Patient Status, and Administrative Category.
Admit a patient
Access the Bed Layout View for the relevant ward.
Click a vacant bed, then select Admit from the menu.
Search for and select the required patient. The Admission screen is displayed.
Select or make a referral:
If appropriate referrals exist: select the required referral from the Referral drop down list.
If no appropriate referrals exist: select the required consultant and referral source from the Consultant and Referral Source drop down lists.
Complete all mandatory admission fields:
Admission Date. Date and time of admission.
Admission Source. Where the patient was admitted from (e.g. GP, A&E).
Admission Method. How the patient was admitted (e.g. Elective, Emergency).
Client Classification. NHS, Private.

Psychiatric Patient Status. Mental health specific status field.
Administrative Category. Elective, Non-Elective.
If required, use the Associated Documents section to link any related documents (referral letter, consent form) to the admission.
If the referral source is GP: verify the GP displayed is the one who actually made the referral, change if different.
Click Save.
The Inpatients screen is displayed. The patient and consultant details appear next to the bed, and the bed image changes to Occupied.
📌Note: If the Therapeutic Observations module is in use on the ward, you must also specify the Therapeutic Observation Level and Observation Level Reason before saving.
