An intervention is the action, treatment, or goal that addresses a problem or need on a patient's care plan. Each problem can have multiple interventions. Linking an intervention to a referral and a care pathway is what enables automatic pathway action completion if your organisation uses ePathways.
Add an intervention or goal
On the care plan screen, find the problem or need you want to add an intervention to, then click Add Intervention.
The exact label depends on your local configuration. It may appear as Add Action, Add Goal, or similar.
The Add Intervention screen is displayed for the selected problem or need.
To use a pre-defined library item, click Select from Library, select the appropriate intervention, then click Load.
The intervention fields are pre-populated from the library item. You can edit any field before saving.
If you are not using a library item, complete the intervention fields:
Intervention Category: Select from the pick list (if configured).
Intervention Type: Select from the pick list (if configured).
Text fields: Complete as required by your care plan type configuration.
Pick list fields: Select from the available options.
Date fields: Enter dates as required.
Start Date: Enter the date the intervention begins.
If prompted, link the intervention to a referral by selecting the referral it relates to.
This is important if your organisation uses ePathways. The Care Pathway pick list will include any RTT (Referral to Treatment) pathways linked to the selected referral.
Select the appropriate care pathway from the Care Pathway pick list to link the intervention to a pathway.
This enables automatic pathway action completion if your organisation uses ePathways.
Click Save.
The intervention is saved and displayed under the problem or need on the care plan screen.
đNote: If your organisation uses ePathways, always link interventions to the correct care pathway when adding them. This is what triggers automatic pathway action completion. If you are unsure which pathway to select, speak to your care coordinator or System Administrator.
