This article explains how actions work within ePathways, including: automatic completion, manual completion, dependencies, and action types.
Complete pathway actions
Actions are the individual tasks that make up a pathway phase. These may be completed automatically or manually.
Automatic actions
Automatic actions are linked to Rio records such as:
Referrals
Appointments
Assessments
The action completes automatically when the configured conditions are met.
Examples of conditions include:
Record validation completed
Referral discharged
Record closed
Discharge date recorded
If an automatic action does not complete
Check that all required conditions have been met.
If the action displays an Error status, contact your System Administrator.
Manually complete an action
Some actions require manual completion.
To manually complete an action
Open the client's pathway.
Navigate to the relevant phase.
Locate the action.
Select Complete.
Select a Manual Completion Reason.
Add comments if required.
Select Save.
The action status will update and the completion details will be recorded automatically.
Understand action dependencies
Some actions must be completed before others become available.
If an action appears unavailable or greyed out:
Review earlier actions within the phase.
Complete any outstanding parent actions.
Return to the dependent action.
Mandatory and optional actions
Mandatory actions
Mandatory actions must be completed before a phase can be completed.
Optional actions
Optional actions can be completed but are not required for phase progression.
Repeated actions
Some actions require completion multiple times before they are considered complete.
For example:
Complete three follow up appointments.
Attend multiple reviews.
The action remains active until all required repetitions have been completed.
