If you see an information window stating:

The clients are of different sex.
This is expected behaviour. The System Admin Guide confirms:
Merge Checks: Before the Merge process runs, RIO checks for the following problems and prevents the Merge if any of them are true:
'From’ Gender is not the same as ‘To’ Gender.
Workaround
As a potential workaround, you can try changing the From Client gender to match the To Client gender before attempting the merge. This may allow the merge to proceed.

Please type talk to a person and the Digital Assistant will put you through to a live support agent. Ensure to include:
The error message you are receiving.
The ClientIDs of the records you are trying to merge.
