Summary
Some Audit Trail records may remain in the system and not be archived. This article explains the conditions under which this happens.
Issue
You may notice that certain Audit Trail records are not being archived as expected.
Cause
The Audit Trail Archiver service will not archive any Audit Trail record that has a linked entry in the AuditTrailClinicalRecordReason table.
When this link exists, the record stays in the main AuditTrail table.
Expected behaviour
Only a small number of Audit Trail records typically meet this condition, so the impact is limited.
No action is required. This behaviour is by design to ensure data linked to clinical record reasons remains available.
