Link smartcard to Rio account

How to link a Smartcard to a user account in Rio. You need access to People Management in Access Rio to complete these steps.

Before you begin, confirm the first name and surname registered in Rio exactly match the name on the Smartcard. If they do not match, contact your internal Registration Authority (RA) team before proceeding.

Steps to link a Smartcard

  1. On the Rio Menu click People Management.

  2. Filter the list to locate the specific Rio user account.

  3. Select Edit User.

  4. In the LoginID section, click the Spine button.

  5. Choose the correct Smartcard UUID from the list.

  6. Click Save.

⚠️Important:

  • If the UUID does not appear, contact your RA team to verify the Smartcard details and try again.

Error when linking UUID

If you see the following message:

Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.GenUser' with unique index 'IX_GenUser'. The duplicate key value is (insert UUID here).

Type talk to a person in the Digital Assistant to be connected to a live support agent.
